You should not put Fire Extinguishers, Mattresses, POP’s Waste, electrical appliances, liquid waste, tyres, paint cans, clinical/medical waste, florescent tubes, batteries, plasterboard hazardous/toxic material gas cylinders, Polystyrene waste or asbestos into standard uncovered skips.
Skips should be level filled – do not overfill above the sides of the skips – overloaded skips are dangerous as waste material may fall out and can make uplifting the skip impossible.
Fires in skips are dangerous and illegal, and the repair or replacement of a skip could cost the hirer up to £2000 if the skip is damaged or misused.
The hirer, all skips sited on private property are sited at the hirers own risk. Whilst we endeavour to take every care and attention when servicing our client’s sites, we cannot be held responsible for damage, how so ever caused. Skip wagons can weigh up to 16tonne when they are fully laden – please be aware that many tarmac, slabbed, paved or concreted driveways may crack or sink under this pressure. The hirer is also responsible for providing lights and cones to make the skips safe and visible.
You need to apply to your Local Authority. Most Councils will charge a small premium for applying for a road licence. In many areas, we can apply for the permit on your behalf.
